The Melbourne Taiwanese Association has once again achieved a milestone of historic significance. The “Taiwanese Beef Noodle Festival,” held on July 18, 2026 at Brunswick Town Hall, successfully set a new record by cooking and serving 600 bowls of Taiwanese beef noodle soup on site, marking an important milestone in promoting Taiwanese culinary culture in Australia.
The event attracted nearly 300 distinguished guests, members of the Taiwanese community, and Australian friends from Melbourne, who gathered to enjoy one of Taiwan’s most iconic dishes. In addition to the classic braised beef noodle soup and clear broth beef noodle soup, the event also featured nine authentic Taiwanese side dishes, including braised peanuts, dried tofu, braised pig ears, braised beef tendon, and braised eggs. Each dish showcased the rich layers and hometown flavors of Taiwanese cuisine.
This Beef Noodle Festival was jointly organized by the Melbourne Taiwanese Association and William Angliss Institute, working together to create this large-scale culinary and cultural celebration. The event also received strong support from the Overseas Community Affairs Council of the Republic of China (Taiwan). In particular, renowned Taiwanese chefs Chef Huang from the famous Nong Lai Restaurant and Chef Lo, President of the Chinese Culinary Exchange Association, traveled to Melbourne to provide full guidance on beef noodle preparation and kitchen operations. They led the team in accomplishing this nearly impossible task, bringing the most authentic Taiwanese beef noodle soup to Australian audiences in its original flavor.
Beef noodle soup is more than just a bowl of noodles. It carries the warmth of Taiwanese hospitality and a culinary culture that Taiwan takes great pride in. Through this food festival, we hope more Australian friends will come to know Taiwan, understand Taiwan, and experience the passion and charm of Taiwanese culture through their taste buds, further strengthening cultural exchange between Taiwan and Australia.
The Taiwanese Association of Australia Melbourne Chapter sincerely thanks the two distinguished Michelin Taiwanese chefs who traveled from afar, William Angliss Institute, all partner organizations, sponsors, vendors, the organizing committee, and every volunteer who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. It is through everyone’s unity, dedication, and selfless contribution that this unforgettable Taiwanese culinary celebration was made possible.
Finally, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the guests, fellow Taiwanese, and friends from the community who attended the event. We look forward to continuing to use food as a bridge for cultural exchange, allowing Taiwanese beef noodle soup and more Taiwanese specialties to shine in Australia’s multicultural society, and helping more people see Taiwan, know Taiwan, and fall in love with Taiwan.
