A delegation of over 30 members from the Melbourne Taiwanese Association recently visited the Overseas Community Affairs Council in Taiwan. We sincerely thank the Deputy Minister and Director General Chen Ying-Feng for the warm welcome and meaningful dialogue.
During the discussion, we highlighted Melbourne’s rapid growth—now home to over 5.5 million people and on track to become Australia’s largest city. While our Taiwanese community may not be the largest among Australia’s major cities, Melbourne is a key cultural, business, and education hub.
We emphasized that the Taiwanese community plays an important role in supporting the Taiwan government in strengthening relations with Victoria across all sectors. In particular, the second and third generations of Taiwanese are vital bridges to broader society. To sustain this momentum and harness our collective strength, it is imperative to establish a dedicated community space—one that serves all Taiwanese, especially younger generations, as a place to connect, collaborate, and grow together.
We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Minister Hsu and the OCAC for their generous hospitality.
